A sudden surge in paranormal phenomena is beginning to worry New Yorkers. Ghosts wreak havoc on all the streets of the city. At the same time, Peter Venkman, Raymond "Ray" Stantz and Egon Spengler, three young parapsychology researchers from Columbia University, decide to start their own paranormal investigation company called "Ghostbusters".
